Our History (Neighbourhood Plan Event June 2nd 2018)

Our History

The parish contains many areas where settlements spreads back to the Iron Age and with much evidence of significant occupation during the Roman period. We also have a number of historical churches some in use and some in preservation showing that it was well peopled in the medieval period and onwards.

Archaelogical Sites

This is just a summary of recorded significant finds. Smaller finds of Roman coins, Celtic buckles and other reminders of past occupation have been made and logged by metal detectors in recent months.

There are many buildings in  the parish that are not protected by listed status that we would like to conserve or retain in some way. This does not always mean that re-use is seen as impossible it is rather that they need to be treated sympathetically so they can continue to contribute to the heritage and appearance of the area.

Finally this is the list of buildings protected by Listing. This means that protection under the plan is not needed as they are already protected and managed to the rules of the national listing scheme.
