How do we retain/enhance the Countryside and Natural Resources? (Neighbourhood Plan Event June 2nd 2018)

How do we retain/enhance the Countryside and Natural Resources?

For the countryside an our villages to remain attractive and viable we need to help encourage development to be sustainable. We face considerable challenges as a rural community. Public Transport for example is minimal and likely to reduce rather than improve which means that we need to plan for people to continue to depend on private cars. Even the gradual move away from the internal combustion engine faces challenges as the electricity infrastructure capacity in the area is insufficient if we all do switch to Electric cars.

New housing needs to be as carbon neutral as possible and ways to encourage existing houses to reduce carbon usage encouraged.

Bio-Diversity

This is not just a nice to have. The diversity helps to make the area what it is and will make it more sustainable for the future. The plan needs to encourage the maintenance of this diversity which is increasingly depending upon small packets of land within the Parish. Bio-diversity within the village confines is also a challenge.
